At the age of 15, I was introduced to a foreign world to that of Dormanstown and mainstream culture.  My art master introduced me to books. The first time I saw a book filled room, I discovered the great masters of fine art. 

A window was opened that led to classical music, theatre and a culture previously inaccessible to most people of my background. I relished these experiences and many of my portraits are testaments to the admiration I have for these creative icons.  I like to work at almost life-size, to almost recreate the imagined presence of these people who have given so much to my inner world.
